Thank you for your interest in adopting this great pet! Hi, my name is Shaggy. Here at the shelter they call me Princess Shaggy because, well, Im a Princess. I am around 10 years old. I had a home for most of my life, but my people had a baby and decided they could no longer care for me. They brought me to the shelter hoping I could find a new home. I didnt understand why they left me there, I was scared and confused. I just hid in my box and soon I started getting depressed. I lost interest in things like grooming myself. I stopped eating and lost a lot of weight. I began having a small health problem which I am too embarrassed to talk about. Thankfully, the nice people at the shelter noticed I was struggling. They made sure I started getting the one on one attention that I needed. They filled up my bowl everyday with canned cat food, which I really liked. Sadly, my problem only got worse. One day, the Veterinarian came in to check on some of the animals. Natalie, the lady who always cares for me, asked the vet to check me out and help her determine why I was having problems. The vet started me on a series of medications and got me started on a good quality food. I have felt a lot better ever since then. I have to take a small dose of medication every other day which I am not thrilled about, but I understand its for my own good. I really like the new food, my fur feels so much softer and thicker, my body feels healthier too! The workers here at the shelter try to spend as much time with me as they can. But there are so many other kitties that also need their attention, some days I only get a petted for a couple of minutes. This makes me feel sad, I will look at them though the door and meow for them to look my way. They will say hi and tell me I am beautiful but theres no time to chat or cuddle, they have to finish their work. At night, I sit on my chair with my blanket and imagine that its a warm lap. I listen to the other cats around me and realize we are all waiting for the same thing. During the day, I sit in the window sill and look outside at the big world. I dream of a day where I can call my home an actual home, not the shelter. My dream home would be somewhere quiet, calm and relaxing. Most importantly, with someone who loves me as much or even more than the shelter workers do. I enjoy the company of other cats but dogs really scare me. It has been over two years since I was left at the shelter. I am ready for the next chapter in my life, my forever retirement home.
